Chapter 20: Still
Made it! Kagome huffed in relief. Carrion crows were capable of burrowing into the heart and reanimating their victim’s corpse. So gross. She pushed up on her arms, finding herself nose-to-nose with Sesshoumaru. “Sorry! Did I hurt you?”
He made no sign of upset or interest.
Noisome croaking. Rattling chain. Snarled oaths.
Sesshoumaru remained unmoved and unmoving. Aloof to the bitter end.
Wait.
Kagome ran her hand over his chest, then pressed her ear to the place. He’s not breathing!
But he gripped her arm.
She met his flat gaze with a smile. “It’s okay, Sesshoumaru-sama. Your heart’s still beating.”

This story is so sad, and depressing, and dark.
I love it.
Can’t wait for the next chapter!

Sigh…Kagome. She’s precious, I hope she can pull him out of this deep dark place.

Was that Sesshoumaru teasing her by stilling himself? If so, haha aloof to the bitter end indeed. If he has just grown so tired of living that he has stopped attempting to keep himself alive any longer, than I will now proceed to cry
