What to do, what to do…

By my estimation, we’re roughly a month away from wrapping up Clumsy. As promised, weekly Savvy updates will begin shortly thereafter … however, those will take place over on FanFiction.net. Which will leave this blog rather lonely. So I’m picking through my story pile, trying to decide on something new that will post exclusively to ForthWrites.com. (Gotta lure you back somehow, right?)

I’ll do as I please. (I always do.) But I’m open to suggestions, since you’re my intended audience. What do you think, m’dears? Another Sess/Kag? Another ship? Another fandom entirely?

    • Every time I get a story idea (whether in fandom or for original stuff), I start a document to capture it. That way, I can add notes and flourishes. Once I feel the concept is developed enough, I can easily spin in out in serial format.

Needless to say, I have a nice little pile of fandom possibilities. And it would make sense if most of my current followers are here for Sess/Kag. ::twinkle::

    • I am thoroughly enjoying that manga (and now the anime). Usually, I wait until I know MORE about the original author’s world and intentions before dipping in. (Especially since I tend to alt. ship the bits out of the original.)

…but I’d love to write for the fandom. ❤

  1. I’m completely in love with a certain Spirited Away X Inuyasha crossover( the one by Arella1), so the thought of you creating one just makes me want to squeal. But really anything you do will make me happy. 😍 Thanks for all of the updates!

  2. I would love to see “Faint Heart” picked up again, but if it’s something new you want to start, Sesshomaru/Kagome is always welcome or Miroku/Kagome.

    • I do feel a little guilty for starting something new when I have so many unfinished stories. But I’ll be chipping away at those, too, each in their turn. For the blog, though, I want an exclusive tale … to encourage people to follow me here. (I am such a mercenary soul!)

  3. I would like submit a vote both for Spirited Away – unless I’m mixing up my authors you have a really grand Spirited Away fic already, and I’m always hungry to see more happen in that fandom! I also think your drabble style particularly suits the whimsical and somewhat mysterious “feel” of Spirited Away.

However if you’re feeling the InuYasha muse more, I’d love to see some more Inu/Kag!

    • I do have a completed Spirited Away story (on my forthrightly account) called Guardian. Adding another story to that fandom would be a distinct pleasure. I’ll think on it. ::wink::

    • I might do a serial set in my original universe later, once the series is partially released and the setting is established. But for now, let’s goof off in fandom some more! ::twinkle::

  4. Pretty much anything is how I vote? I’d really like a Kouga/Kagome (after SessKag, its my fav) or even a non-romance about the brothers bonding, or such since I really like how you have them interact. I’m easy to keep reading. With Clumsy tying up I can finally begin reading it (I…was gonna start reading at chapter 100, or when it was done, whichever occurred first because I realized I binge read your stories/chapters whenever I feel depressed. Makes me feel better!

    • Anything! I can do anything! (Okay, that comes off sounding rather braggish.)

You’ll definitely get your Kouga/Kagome fix with Savvy. And I do love an undercurrent of brotherly bonding. Hmm… that request bumps one potential tale to the top of the heap. It’s S/K, but Inuyasha takes a more dominant role in the proceedings.

And … aww! It makes me happy that you come to my stories when you need a little lift. May you find the warmth you need on chilly days. ❤

  5. I am always ready to read another kag/sess story from your hands! If you are interested in exploring different fandoms though I would ask what in particular holds your interest enough for you to write on? Maybe if we had some options it would help your readers root for your next endeavor.

    • As I mentioned in a comment above, I usually like to write in a fandom where the source material is more complete. That way, I can bend the rules (without breaking them) and alt. the ships (because I love to mess with canon) and give little fixes for the disasters and disappointments perpetrated by authors who Do Not Understand that they are breaking our hearts.

I could easily write for mainstream faves like Naruto, One Piece, xxxHolic, Fruits Basket, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Ouran High School Host Club. I’m sitting on plots for Pandora Hearts, Natsume’s Book of Friends, La Corda d’ Oro, Black Butler, and a Ranma 1/2-Inuyasha crossover. And I daydream about writing for less popular playgrounds: Mushishi, Princess Jellyfish, Crescent Moon, Nobari No Ou… and probably a dozen others. (And hey, who doesn’t have a Harry Potter fic or two in their back pocket?)

But I can’t indulge every whim. Especially since I have even more fun writing my own stories. Although it’s harder to alt. ship my own stuff. Because wouldn’t that make the alt. ship canon? (If my original stories ever inspire a fandom, I’ll sneak in and alt. ship to my heart’s content!)

      • Come to think of it, I’d enjoy writing for Yuri on Ice. One of my readers recommended the anime to me in a review, and I was curious what all the fuss was about. I was highly amused at the way the story skates along the edge of shonen-ai without ever actually straying into yaoi territory … much like Tolerable, which is seriously due for another story arc. Because I’m a tease.

  6. I’ve always loved your SessKag (you’re one of the only authors I read for the ship!) but your InuKag fic Unexpected was the first thing I read of yours waaaay back when. I’d love to see another InuKag or maybe even SanMir à la Froth oooor the aforementioned Spirited Away fic! But who am I kidding… I’d love to read anything you write!!

    • Ah, yes. Mir/San has such wonderful chemistry.

Spirited Away is getting a lot of love in comments. I may have to dream something up for the story after this next one. ::twinkle::

  7. I’ve loved all of your stories regardless of the ship, so honestly I’m up for anything! SessKag will always draw me back in ❤ Someone mentioned Ancient Magus Bride earlier and I am also in love with the series. I’d be interested to see your take on the fandom (especially since the good fanfics are few and far between).

    • I’ve been collecting The Ancient Magus’ Bride manga, so I know the story as far as it’s been released in that format (in America). The setting’s lush and lavish, and I adore the relationships that are developing. Nicely complex, with plenty of room to explore the side characters. I want more of the main plot to unfold, though, especially surrounding the lurking baddie and his designs on Chise.

  8. I am up for anything really, although SessKag is my jam. I also really enjoyed the one you started years ago with Miroku Sesshomaru friendship. So maybe a bit of both of those? But I am sure whatever you write will be fabulous!

    • Oh, yes! I love Sess+Mir buddy!fics. Vassal is on my shortlist of stories to finish. (Even though it’s not exactly popular… because it’s not a romance.)

      • I love Vassal! I am fond of romances, but you put enough depth into relationships that I don’t find myself missing the romance in your friendship fics.

  9. I have to say that Mir/San and Sess/Kag are fav.
I loved your Mir/San story you don’t often get a story where they are the main pair.
But I just love your SessKag stories they are so wholesome! ❤

  10. I know it’s a long shot but rather than starting something new, is there any way we might implore you to finish the inu/kag school story? It’s one of those fics i read just to feel my heart drown in lovely romance. If not, i still vote something Inu/Kag. You’re great at sess/kag, but the original ship is amazing when you write it.

    • Ah, there’s the guilt. ::hides::

I can’t commit to weekly updates of Unexpected here on the blog because that fic’s all Novel Length… and I only have the time to treat you to 100-word updates. So an eensy serial it’ll have to be. (But I can promise you’ll get your janitorial romance down the road a ways. Sorta.) ::twinkle::

  11. I know it’s not necessarily likely but rather than having you start something new if I could vote I’d really love to see you with finish the janitor principle story it’s one of those stories that makes my heart melt every time I read it. I know it’s been awhile but I would love to see hiw it ends. If not, I still vote for an InuKag pairing. Sesskag is great but the original ship is amazing under your hand.

  12. I’m probably in the minority to ask for Afinity to be continued (I just want to know how it ends!).
But I’m also on the board with another Spirited Away or Sesshomarou/Kagome fic, but really, everything you write is always lovely. I’m always so happy to read your stories. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

    • Affinity is on my short list of stories to wrap up. It’s not too far from its end, and it would be satisfying to see it through. Perhaps after Savvy. We’ll see!

  14. I always really loved your Spirited Away story. It might be nice to see what they’ve been up to in the first few months of their marriage. With the weather turning and hot tea becoming a staple it would be very nice to read about some domestic bliss. ❤

    • If I wrote another Spirited Away fic, it wouldn’t be a continuation of Guardian. My favorite part of romantic tales is the tension of finding and fumbling and falling in love. So I’d take a new spin on the pairing, probably slightly AU.

  15. You have spoiled me for nearly any other sess/kag. I can’t just pick up another author’s depiction of them and swing it anymore, I gotta have the direct forthwrite line haha. I would love to see another sess/kag. If those are not what you’re jiving for at the moment, I would also second (third? Fourth?) a spirited away fic. I love all your work, anything you do would be wonderful. ❤️

  16. Your Sess/Kag stories always make me smile (and I find myself checking whichever site you are using for that particular story much too often for new updates). So, my first response is Sess/Kag, but, as you say, it’s your final decision. So…I will wait with baited breath and much anticipation! Oh, and popcorn.

  17. I would LOVE to see more Sess/Rin. My favorite ship varies depending on whatever fic of yours I’m reading at the time, though! I’ll read anything you write, especially if I know the characters well enough. I’m familiar enough with several Studio Ghibli movies, Rurouni Kenshin (through the Kyoto Arc), and Princess Jellyfish; also Rumiko Takahashi’s Mermaid Saga (have you read those?).
    THANK YOU for your stories!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Oh, Sess/Rin can be so sweet! I’ve dabbled with them a little, but usually as a secondary pairing.

All this discussion has landed me with a bunch of fuzz-ball plot!biddies. I may need to resort to oneshots instead of serials just to give them their chance. o___O

And yes, I’m familiar with Mermaid Saga … though it’s been a while. I remember it having a very wistful, weary feel.

  18. I know I’m super late to the party but I was just wondering, it would be a sequel I suppose but I’ve always wondered how’d the story went with Rin and Inuyasha from Unspoiled. I’m such a multi-shipper so I’m honestly good with any one LOL I really love how you write everyone and also how you bring them together as a pack and what not. If not this story per-say, maybe a AU of the Inuyasha world of families coming one. You’re choice of who’s romancing who? LOL Like I said, I just love how you write these characters, so true to themselves and yet also still true to the story you made up. If you were to ever do such a story, I’d love to see Hisoka to return….NO HE IS CANON YOU CAN’T TELL ME OTHER WISE!! Anyway, just tossing that out there. Can’t wait to read your original series, I hope it comes out soon!!

    • As a general rule (there are exceptions), I’m not a big fan of sequels, so I’m not likely to write one.

      Yay, multi-shipping! ::twinkle::

One could argue that I wrote the Amaranthine Saga so that Hisoka could rule a universe of his own.

    • Oh, I’ll most definitely get back to Affinity (relatively) soon. My IY x YYH crossover shouldn’t take long to wrap up! (But it’s still going to have to wait its turn.)

  20. I will be very pleased to read whatever you find yourself writing! I will say that I favor your InuYasha works greatly. I don’t have my heart on any pairing, your Sess/Kag works are lovely. I wouldn’t oppose another Inu/Kag AU or even something that focuses on Naraku. I also wouldn’t mind something bringing back your sarcastic, longsuffering sensei yet again. (I know that last one is a stretch especially with him in your upcoming original work but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to say.)

  21. I was about to say “More SessKag, or another crack IY pairing!” but then I saw someone mention The Ancient Magus’ Bride and it was like HOLY FRITTATTAS YES PLEASE.

I would scream a most inelegant fangirl scream if you wrote for that. I really would.

    • I have another Sess/Kag story ready to roll (mostly because I had already developed the plotline), but I think after that, I’ll choose either Spirited Away or The Ancient Magus’ Bride because … well … as you say. HOLY FRITTATTAS. ::wink::
