“Pour?” checked Coop.
“Coffee. Didn’t I say? I’m a barista in the coffee shop downstairs.”
“I thought you were a ward.”
“That, too. Everyone in an enclave pulls together. Like a family. Like pack.” Jiminy indicated the rooftop café. “Anybody hungry?”
Shilah grumbled, “If you had ears, you’d know how long his stomach’s been growling.”
“Sorry! I’ll make up for it. Around here, eating like a bird is expected, and trust me… they can really pack it away.”
“Don’t you mean peck it away?” muttered Shilah.
Jiminy laughed. “Sit with these guys. They may not be heralds, but they’re avian.”
