Jiminy flung his arms wide. “Welcome to Perch County’s hub for all herald activity!”
“Heralds?” ventured Coop.
“They’re the In-between’s courier service. It’s a longstanding avian tradition. Do you want to meet some of them?”
“More Kith?”
“Nope, not these guys.” Raising his voice, Jiminy exclaimed, “Next round of lattes is on the house!”
A guy at one of the café tables lifted his cup in salute. “Yes, yes. We’re all on the house. Don’t you ever come up with new jokes?” Addressing Coop, he blandly added, “Jiminy’s used that one since he was nine and just learning to pour.”
