“They kind of look like pheasants,” ventured Coop. There were ring-neck pheasants in their woods.
“Golden pheasants,” Jiminy confirmed. “Most of these guys are Kith from the Sunfletch clan.”
Coop took a respectful posture, then checked, “Is this just for wolves? Is it different for people from the bird clans?”
“Feathers or fur—anyone from our enclave has learned the clan customs of wolves, pheasants, and squirrels.”
“And humans.” The biggest pheasant had taken speaking form, and a man with rose-gold ringlets offered his hand. “You’re interested in attending Bellwether?”
“Dunno for sure. School and I don’t necessarily get along.”
