Philtrum’s Guidance Deck. I’ve begun a new series of illustrations that I’m turning into art cards for my patrons. They’ll be based on the cards in Philtrum Kemp’s guidance deck in the Immortal Holmes series. You may recall the frontispiece illustration from Folk-Spelled, which was Fifth of Forest.
At the time we designed it, I asked Mart Lett, series illustrator, to do a color version of this card, specifically so that I could do them up as art cards. We went back and forth for a while on a design for the card backs, which will be on the reverse of every addition to this series. The two ladies represent the two realms & the connection that’s achieved by cooperation.
The cards are quite lavish, since I’ve had them printed on pearlescent paper. And they’re BIG. I snapped this picture to give you a sense of scale:
