“Hey, do coyotes have boundaries?”

“Not as many as wolves.”

So evasive. Coop tried again. “Is this your true face?”

Shilah’s gaze dropped. “You know it is.”

But he didn’t know that. Not really.

He’d liked Chumani. A lot. Maybe because coyotes were more reckless than wolves, and he was a bramble-crashing kind of guy.

Now what?

He could almost hear Daroo ask what Shilah was saying by what he didn’t want to say. Or by what he’d let slip.

“You mentioned something about a sanctuary…? Clearsong Sanctuary. What’s that?”

“Idiot.” Shilah hushed him with shaking fingertips. “It’s a secret.”
