Nobody actually explained the rules of the next game, but Coop didn’t need long to get the gist. “So it’s like keep-away and dodgeball, but also basketball?”

Mutt turned his head, rolled an eye.

Coop took a receptive posture and started over. “Don’t get hit by any balls.”

A low wuff to the affirmative.

“But we can steal them from the other team.”

Another wuff.

“Those barrels are goals. Drop one in, get a point.”

Wuff.

Coop thought hard, then checked, “Wouldn’t this be easier if we flew?”

That must’ve been obvious, because Mutt didn’t bother answering. Except to leap.
