Coop only put his head down for a second. Suddenly, Torloo was smiling at him. Somehow, he’d shifted without Coop noticing. Cradled in arms that didn’t look like they’d be this strong, Coop smiled back. Sheepishly.

“You fell asleep, Lad.”

“I was comfy.”

“I caught you.”

“Good catch.”

Tail wagging, Torloo said, “We are nearly there. It will be quicker—and perhaps safer—if I carry you like this.”

“Piggyback?” he countered.

“I am not a pig.”

“Wolfyback.”

Torloo laughed.

Arms wrapped around his friend’s shoulders, Coop’ eyes drifted shut again. “Mmm. Thanks for keeping me safe. My… strong… Bough.”
