“You did real good, kid. Today, you’ll ride Torloo.” Boon produced a long loop of knotted cords. “This’ll be a loan, little bro. You and your partner will need to make your own, savvy?”
Torloo’s tail swung in a wide arc.
After Boon sauntered off, Coop asked, “What is it?”
“You cannot saddle a wolf, but this will support your legs. Place it over my back. Behind you.”
They tested it. Adjusted the length. Tried again. Took a short run.
Bent low, holding onto Torloo’s thick ruff, Coop remembered. “Hey, you know how I’m Coop? From Cooper. Wanna be Bough?”
