Coop and Torloo took turns stirring the stew, which was bubbling nicely when Daroo and Dad came along the homeward trail with Rose.

Introducing Uncle Moon took a while, and being surrounded made Coop try to stand taller, even though it was no use. He might’ve matched Dad’s height, but he’d never be equal to a wolf.

Only… Coop didn’t feel small.

Just then, Torloo hunched to put his chin on Coop’s shoulder. Because he was taller, too. By a smidge. Coop immediately felt bad for worrying about his own self and offered what comfort he could. “First bowl’s yours.”
