A lady’s voice carried from the den’s entrance, clear and calm. “Cole and Rose? Come with me, please. The pack is on the move.”

“Everyone calls me Coop,” he grumbled, letting Rose tug him along the short passage.

Their Amaranthine visitor didn’t look like a bad person. Sorta tall and tanned. And soft.

“Well met, children. My name is Vinca.” Gesturing gracefully, she said, “We are moving the wounded Kith to your house, where my sisters and I will do battle.”

“We have to fight?”

“In a way. And with all we have.” Vinca beckoned them closer. “We are healers.”
