No Shirt, No Shoes

Coop spread the red wagon—in pieces—on weathered plywood. His bare feet were grubby. The sun felt good on his back. Grease got under his nails. And he couldn’t have been happier.

Well, maybe a little happier.

Ever since Daroo’s “we’ll see,” Coop had been hoping hard. If Dad noticed his pleading postures, he didn’t let on.

Glass clinked as Dad sat in the grass and offered a root beer. “I’ve been thinking….”

Coop sat back on his heels, suddenly breathless. This was it!

“We haven’t taken a family vacation since Rose was born, and… Daroo’s plan’ll require passports.”
