“Okay, sure.” He took a receptive posture, but predicted, “He’ll say yes.”
“We’ll see. Let’s put away your deer fodder.”
“So… is he a deer? Or is he a she?”
“First things first,” said Daroo, who had a whole lot of experience keeping secrets. But he must have thought Dad would say yes, too. Because he added, “If I vouched for you, if you used every courtesy….”
“If…?” Coop coaxed.
“There are places we could go. Hypothetically.”
“Like…?”
