Ours for Sure

Coop sat down on the curb and tugged at the ponytail he’d been working on since last Dichotomy Day. It took a while, but Coop finally decided that he’d never thought of Daroo as his other dad. Daroo was Dad’s wolf.

That meant pack.

That meant family.

And for Rose, that meant two dads.

Squinting at his little sister, Coop said, “He’s ours for sure, so yeah. This year, let’s plan two gifts.”

“Or one they can share?” she asked.

Coop narrowed his eyes. “You already picked something?”

“I did have an idea.” Rose smiled tentatively. “How about a puppy?”
