Chapter 41: Crisis Averted
Kagomaru threw himself between Sesshoume and the stranger, speedily catching the monk’s wrist before rounding on his wife. “Don’t kill him!”
“He offends me.”
The shrinekeeper couldn’t have agreed more, but with a firm shake of his head, he said, “Let me deal with him. Please.”
“Excuse me,” interrupted the monk, whose expression had lost all its battle intensity. “Am I correct in assuming that this youkai is not a plague upon this place?”
“Plague? Why would you even think…?”
Gently disentangling himself from Kagomaru’s grip, the newcomer wryly said, “I suppose that would have been a little too convenient.”
