LMM 343: Storm Brewing

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s being a dear.

Jacques leaned into Juuyu’s shoulder—pristine wool and starched cotton, soft tutting and sure fingers. “You use the same hair oil as Suuzu?”

The phoenix only warbled a chiding note.

Jacques was quite sure he’d been hushed.

“Something has happened?” Argent’s question demanded an answer.

“It’s the Four Storms. They’re back with a vengeance.” Sinder’s mood shifted. “Can you smell the weather turning?”

“What? Trouble with the Chrysanthemum Blaze?”

“Nope. That one’s safe enough. But Beckonthrall’s in a snit over the loss of the Plum Cascade, and someone’s gone and tried to take the Orchid Saddle from Lord Trystholm’s trove.”

  2. I remember reading about Lord Beckonthrall and Lord Yonkeep in Fumiko but passed by it too quickly, eager to read more of the rest of the story… and now I realised I missed a vital clue (again 😁).

    • Yep, yep. Many thanks to Lynne, who pointed out that Lord Yonkeep is the dragon lord who was harboring the Bamboo Stave. Switched it out quick-like here. We now have Lord Trystholm in attendance.

    • It certainly BECOMES Redgate’s anchor. You’re about to find out how it became available.

…we’re in the background of Bk3, at the moment. The trip to America is still several weeks away.

  4. Adding tidbits to the timeline. I like how you are filling in the back history. I was busy with other things that needed attention so I wasn’t able to finish Fumiko yet. So I decided to just go and reread it. Sigh…RL.

  5. Remembering how Jacques was compared to a tree in Bk5.
He truly takes notice of a LOT of things in Stately House… Lord, even the hair oils.
