LMM 278: Bird Sanctuary

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s founding an enclave.

The sedge had arrived the previous summer. In keeping with the adage, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, Randolla Demoiselle had taken a shine to scruffy meadow a few kilometers from Stately House. His clan diverted a stream, planted marsh grasses, and built thatched houses that looked like haystacks on stilts.

Far less rustic was Randolla’s workroom. Jacques practically skipped up stone steps, bowing Argent through a heavy door and into a heaven that rivaled the finest Paris shops.

Jacques! And Argent…?” Randolla’s fingers fluttered. “Dear, dear. What’s he spoiled this time? Please say it’s not the Glimsleek brocade!”

  2. oh My!!! LMBO! That is just wonderfully funny! I’m thinking Argent will have a scowl on his face wondering what these two talk about in his absence.

  3. I liked the description how the sedge came to “scruffy meadow” and made a neglected and unwanted area a nice and cozy home. Are they living on Hajime-land or are they neighbors?
“Thatched houses that looked like haystacks on stilts” – original, sensible and pretty.
There is not only a very good tailor for Jacques, but perhaps good friends – it is a very different but good way of living.
And I googled “Doran” (chrysanthemum too). I noticed the color and the flowers on the dressing gown in “ART: CATNAP”, I found the one in “ART: FUNDOSHI SWIM CLUB” even more beautiful, but the other one could have a secret meaning …
Doran made me think of “al’Lan Mandragoran” of Robert Jordan’s “wheel of time” – wasn’t there a reference to a flag with a golden crane?.

And I want to thank the people who give prompts for this wonderful story.

    • Doran’s name will likely make sense once you meet him (and his brother). It’s not a reference to anyone/anything in particular. Just … a thing that happened. ::twinkle::
