Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one impervious to barriers.

Out of Bounds
Jacques set to work, putting things to rights. The clothes were exquisite, of course. He wouldn’t have abided them here otherwise. But appropriate to the occasion? “Ward this room against her,” he grumbled.
“Already managed,” Argent assured. “Shall I ask one of the sedge to assist you?”
“Let me do it.” Jacques tutted over castoff silk. “This is my job.”
“You may have help whether you want it or not.” Argent stalked doorward.
Jacques expected Kyrie to tumble in, the little barrier-wrecker.
But when Argent swiftly opened the door, he startled a different boy. “Nonny, you are out of bounds.”

I think I’ve missed something, but what is a sedge? I thought it was a type of plant?

A sedge of cranes (nest or clan of wise birds?):
Mikoto and the reaver village.
I think we missed a lot the last 2 1/2 years.

Spot on!
I’ll do a quick blog post to further elucidate.

The first part of the Merrimack-Webster dictionary says “any in the family”. The actual definition refers to the plant but I imagine here it was used as someone in the family to help. That’s just a guess though.
