LMM 169: Just the Ticket

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the circumspect one.

Jacques crept into the kitchen and hesitated. Why hadn’t Deece followed?

“Smythe.”

Right. That would be why. “Yes, my lord?”

“You are dripping.”

“More than is polite. Yes.”

“Why?”

“Following orders, my lord.” He saluted, then dabbed at his nose. “Fancied some seawater. Just the ticket.”

Argent huffed. “Deece!”

The cat entered.

“Throw him in the bath. Return him here. We need to talk.”

Deece angled his head toward the door.

Argent huffed again. “Sinder!”

Stealing inside, the shivering dragon looked young and uncertain.

“Bathe with them. Return with them.” In gentler tones, Argent added, “There will be hot drinks.”
