Miroku took charge. His questions were gentle, his attention kind. And then he reminded everyone that he was a monk.

As the sun set, he sang prayers for those lost and gone. For the ancestors left behind. He somehow managed to weave in personal touches that turned each loss into a reminder that their lives were precious and connected.

By chance and by choice.

By shared trust and new purposes.

Shishi’s partner received their due, and Miroku seamlessly included Jaken, Rin, and Ah-Un.

Kagome quickly looked to see if Sesshoumaru’s stripes were darkening.

Grabbing her flashlight, she climbed toward answers.
