Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the fashionable one.

Quirks of Heritage
A handkerchief appeared, and Jacques immediately recognized the faux pas that was Michael’s only fashion statement. Magic or no, the bracelet looked like a frail dowager’s baubles.
“Sensei!” The man exuded boyish delight. “Always a pleasure.”
Jacques indicated the weepy boy. “You. Here. Another one.”
But where Nonny had gone easily to Michael, Gilen nearly strangled Jacques with desperate clinging.
“Ah.” Michael shook his head regretfully. “Instincts rebel.”
“No reavers,” explained Hisoka. “Gilen is also uneasy with females.”
Jacques could relate. Still. “Why?”
“A quirk of the feline clans.” The cat paused. “And an understandable consequence of his mother’s… disfavor.”
