LMM 70: Make My Apologies

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially for the banished one.

Make My Apologies

“Mind the ascot,” grumbled Jacques. “I cannot fend off Monsieur Ward if I am creased or rumpled.”

Gilen’s hold gentled, though he roughly butted Jacques’ chin.

“Apology,” interpreted Michael. “Or appeal.”

“Scat.” Jacques flicked his fingers. “I’ll make your apologies to Stripe.”

Michael banished himself from the immediate vicinity, and Gilen gave Jacques neckwear an apologetic pat. “Not Stripe,” he mumbled.

Jacques hummed. “You’re right. Too trite. We can swing something better.”

Just then, Mark appeared bearing a tray with matching goblets—one of star wine, one milk. And topped the evening by uttering three magical words. “Argent wants you.”
