Planning Ahead

On release day for Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox back in February, I marked the occasion by adding to Imperceptible (an IY fanfic), which was one (very long) chapter shy of completion. Looking ahead to the release of Kimiko and the Accidental Proposal, I’ve been sifting through my options.

  • Affinity [IY x YYH crossover] is certainly the closest to an ending. I could probably wrap that up.
  • Tolerable [IY, Mir&Sess] is due for one more story arc before I’d call it finished.
  • NEW STUFF [various] because it’s hard to resist contributing to fandoms old and new. I have notes that could shape up rather quickly into a oneshot or short serial for … Naruto, Spirited Away, The Ancient Magus’s Bride, Natsume Yuujinchou, and a Mushishi crossover that I dare not even *try* to explain. It’s best just to let that one … happen. ::twinkle::

On a related note, I found outlined scenes for a Miroku x Kagome serial that I’d completely forgotten about. They’re my “official” OTP in the InuYasha fandom because that’s where I started. Nostalgia!

So … what freebie fic do you think I should play with? (Bearing in mind that I’ll be well into writing the third book in the Amaranthine Saga when Bk2 releases, so my time for fandom goofing will be limited.)

  1. Affinity!!!! I’ve been rewatching YYH, which made me want to reread Affinity, which made me sad that it wasn’t complete. I’d been thinking of asking if it would ever get an update, but I hate to be demanding when it comes to free fanfics.

  2. Intorable or Affinity since those are closest to being finished, so it makes sense. But I think I’ll be happy with whatever you’ve decided to so. 🙂

  5. I know it wasn’t one of those listed (and I love all of your works) but any possibility of having something on “Unexpected”? I so love the interactions and set in the school. I’ve been waiting and waiting wondering how Kagome will finally learn about InuYasha and Shippo… sigh. Love that story line. Lol.

    But now I find in reviewing all my favorites I need to read them all again. Lol. Tolerable would be a good one. And I have to say I have never seen nor read Affinity. I checked fanfiction site and it’s not listed. Where can I find this story?

    And when does Book 2 come out? I need a reminder and I need to make sure I have it under pre-order status. 🙂

    • Oh, I knew someone would ask for one of the novel-length fics. I don’t really have time to pick up Unexpected right now. In my quest to finish all my fandom tales, it’ll eventually get a turn.

      Affinity is on my secondary fandom account. I hardly remember why I decided to publish non-IY fanfics as “forthrlghtly,” but there you go. Click the tab on this site for FANFICS (MISC), and the IY x YYH crossover is there.

      I’ve narrowed the release of Kimiko and the Accidental Proposal (Amaranthine Saga, #2) to “October-ish.” Believe me, I’ll post once the date’s set and pre-order is possible.

    • I totally agree! I was going to ask if “Unexpected” could be continued as well. I’m in love with all of your stories but that one definitely has a special place in my heart. 🙂 ❤

    • I know it won’t be chosen, but I wanted my vote for _Unexpected_ to be on record. I am a SessKag fan but that one won me over quite… unexpectedly. 😉

  6. Oh I love those fandoms you listed under “NEW STUFF” !! You got me all excited xD But I can understand if you want to wrap up those other stories first, I just hope you get around to writing for those “new stuff” fandoms sometime in the future, that would be awsome! 😀

    • A couple of those newbies would translate well to 100-word drabbling, so I may save them for future blog posting. (Once Mood Stripes is done.) But the others are of the longish short-story variety. With outlines, scene notes, and titles. I’m doomed.

  8. “ Intolerable” pretty please! I have always wondered why he took the monk away from the demon slayer. What are Sesshoumaru’s plans for Miroku once Sesshomaru’s curiosity is satiated.

  10. Oh my goodness! I think everyone would be happy with anything you choose to upload, myself included, but I always favour dusting off things waiting for endings. That said, I think that something for The Ancient Magus Bride would be a wonderful new addition to add to your fic collection and you can never go wrong with anything Ghibli.

  11. Mushishi is my favorite anime! Am I reading the post right, that it would be a crossover between the five series listed, not just a Mushishi crossover? If so, it sounds amazing!! I would love to see how you bring the all those worlds together into one!

    • Oh, my! No, I’m crossing Mushishi with a single other-universe, not ALL THE THINGS. I’m trying for something a little more … plausible.

      Actually, I lied. My crossover bends too many rules and blends two disparate art styles to pretend to be plausible. But if I can suspend your disbelief for a scene or two, you’ll be hooked! ::twinkle::

  14. Okay I have a question, and you may have said this in the past but … is your new book (Accidental Proposal) taking off your fanfiction “Troved”? Cause I LOVE Troved and I’m hyped to read your new book no matter what, but I loved Troved and that would just make me more excited.

I think going from closest to completion would be best. ❤ Admittedly, I'd LOVE to see some Ancient Magus' Bride stuff from you, but I think these landmark posts should continue with the idea of finishing things. You're finishing a book! It's going on SALE! I think celebrating by finishing old things that have been longing for an ending is the most appropriate. ❤

  17. Affinity! please oh please will you finish that one! I read that story all the time even though it isn’t complete. That crossover has lost a lot of its former popularity, unfortunately. I actually discovered you in that fandom before finding your pure IY works because I mostly just read IYYYH, so Affinity is a special story to me.

  18. Oh my gosh! It was just yesterday that I was thinking of re-reading Affinity! Even though I know my heart will be breaking for the lack of ending… and then I read this! Srsly, this is a siiiign. Pretty please!

    My 2nd vote goes to Spirited Away if you’re into HakxChihiro ship as well. That fandom is sooo good, it’s a shame it’s small one.

    By the way, thank you very much for spoiling us with your quality freebie fics. I swear I’d buy and promote the shizzle out of Book 2! I’m so excited I just want to wake on the release date lols
